How to save restricted content from Telegram

Some channels switch on Restrict saving content: you cannot forward a post, save a video to your gallery or copy the text, and Telegram shows “Copying and forwarding is not allowed”. You can still keep a copy of a post you can already see.

Open the bot in Telegram Free · no app to install

Three steps

  1. Open the post and copy its linkTap the post → Share (or the ⋮ menu) → Copy link. It looks like t.me/channel/123.
  2. Send the link to SaveContentOpen @SaveContent_resRoBot in Telegram, press Start, and paste the link.
  3. Receive the postThe bot sends the video, photo, file or text back to you as a normal message you can keep.

Which links can I send?

LinkWhat you get
t.me/channel/123One post from a public channel or group
t.me/channel/100-110Several posts at once (a range)
t.me/c/123456/789A post from a private channel or group

The free plan saves a few posts of a range at a time; paid plans save more in one go.

Public channels: no login

For a public channel you only send the link. It works even when the channel has restricted saving. The post arrives in your chat with the bot and is removed from there after a short time, so forward it to your Saved Messages if you want to keep it.

Private channels: a one-time login

A private channel's posts are visible only to its members, so the bot has to fetch them as you. You log in once with your own Telegram account inside the bot, and that account must already be a member of the channel. After that, posts you save from private channels go straight to your Saved Messages.

The bot cannot open a channel you are not a member of. It saves what your account can already see. It is not a way into paid or closed channels you have not joined.

Wondering whether logging in is safe, and how to end the session? Read the security page.

What can be saved

  • Videos, as the original file and not a screen recording
  • Photos and albums (several photos or videos in one post)
  • Documents, audio and voice messages
  • Text posts, with their formatting

If it does not work

  • “Not a member”: join the private channel with the account you logged in with, then send the link again.
  • “Daily limit reached”: the free plan has a daily number of saves; it resets every day, or you can take a plan.
  • “Wait a moment”: the free plan has a short pause between saves.
  • The link opens a chat, not a post: copy the link of the post itself (it ends with a number).

Fair use

A restriction is usually there because the author wants control over their work. Save posts for your own use: to watch offline, to keep a lesson you paid for, to archive something that may disappear, and do not re-publish other people's content as yours.

Questions people ask

Can I save a video from a Telegram channel that has saving disabled?

Yes. Copy the post's link, send it to @SaveContent_resRoBot, and the bot sends you the video as a normal file. For public channels no login is needed.

How do I download from a private Telegram channel?

Log in once inside the bot with your own Telegram account (it must be a member of the channel), then send the post's link (it looks like t.me/c/123456/789). The post is delivered to your Saved Messages.

Can it save several posts at once?

Yes. Send a range such as t.me/channel/100-110. The free plan saves a few at a time; paid plans save more.

Will the channel owner know I saved a post?

Telegram does not notify a channel when someone views or saves a post. For private channels the bot reads the post with your own account, exactly as when you open it yourself.

Why does Telegram say “Copying and forwarding is not allowed”?

The channel's owner switched on “Restrict saving content”. It blocks forwarding, saving media and copying text for everyone in that channel. Sending the post's link to SaveContent is how you keep a copy.

It takes about a minute
